What to Enter
There is no limit to the number of images you may enter. Each photograph must be less than 6 megabytes (MB) in size and in either the preferred “JPG” format or alternatively, in jpeg, png or gif formats.
Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of people or wildlife, damage to the environment or property by the photographer or at the direction of the photographer, the taking of risks, inappropriate or otherwise objectionable material or images including material that infringes on the rights of any other person, as determined by FMoPA in its sole and absolute discretion. Images that violate these standards may or may not be judged at the judging panel's sole discretion.
Captions must accompany all submissions and must be included when the photograph is uploaded to the Contest site.
FMoPA has final approval of any caption language that appears on its web site with any of the photos and will not promote or endorse unauthorized third-party products or services.
How to Enter
Each photograph must be submitted electronically to the Contest site (FMoPA International Photo Contest) by the following method:
The Process is simple:
That’s it! Then you can invite your friends to vote for your photo, view the submitted photos, or enter again!
Important: Format file name with artist name, underscores for spaces, followed by file extension:
Eligibility and Judging
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges. For each category, three winners will be selected. An overall winner will be selected from all submitted photographs. Each winning submission will be printed for exhibition in the FMoPA Community Gallery. Winning submissions are granted permission for full use by FMoPA including the sale of the printed work, use of the work for promotional purposes, and/or use of the work for marketing purposes.
To ensure eligibility for the Contest, entries must have a file size of 6MB or less. Images that are larger than 6Mb are not able to be uploaded and therefore will not be judged. File names that contain special characters or foreign characters will result in the image not being reviewed or displayed.
All images must be anonymous and cannot include identifying markings including but not limited to signatures, distinguishing watermarks, name stamps, company names, or photos of the artist. Applicants not in compliance with this requirement will be required to make adjustments to their applications / submittals. Refusal to do so will result in disqualification from the judging process.
Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license for use as set forth below (see "Your Rights" below). Upon request, you must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously.
The image must be the original work of the photographer submitting it to the Contest. Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, and as otherwise determined by the judge(s). Preliminary judging may performed by a panel of FMoPA designees. Final judging will be performed by the guest judge(s) identified on the contest page of www.mulabula.com/splash/fmopa.html with the winners chosen in his/her/their sole and absolute discretion. FMoPA shall have the right to substitute another judge(s) if for some reason the guest judge(s) identified on the contest page is unwilling or unable to serve.
FMoPA shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by FMoPA and the judge(s) are final. Winners will be notified by email. Winners who do not respond to this notification within seven (7) days or whose email address is invalid may be removed from the winners award list and a new winner will be selected in their place.
One popular "People’s Choice" winner will also be selected as the image with the largest number of popular votes. Every photo entered in the contest will be available to be voted on by both contestants and the general public. While it is difficult to predict the exact criteria used by the public to vote for a photo, it is common for the public to use the following criteria: originality, the emotional character, overall impact and artistic merit.
Voting requires a $1 per vote payment and a minimum of 5 votes. At the end of the contest, the most popular photograph as determined by total votes will be awarded as People’s Choice winner.
Contestants can solicit votes for each image submitted to increase their chances of winning.
In the event of a tie where more than one photo receives the same number of votes and is in the “top 3” of all voting totals per photo, final judging (tie-breaking) will be performed by FMOPA in its sole and absolute discretion.
The Contest deadlines (start and end dates) can be viewed on the Contest entry page of www.mulabula.com/splash/fmopa.html. The Contest deadlines may be extended at the discretion of FMoPA. Finalists and prize winners will be announced promptly after the Contest entry deadline.
